Trusted Products and Service Since 1969
Mid-South Equipment Engineering, Inc. opened for business in 1969 with F.H. “Spud” Spaulding at the helm. After many successful years and the death of Mr. Spaulding in the year 2000, Kelly Hasney Sr. took control and changed the company name to Mid-South Equipment, Inc. After the change in ownership, and having retained all the existing product lines, Kelly Hasney Jr. joined the company in 2001 to take the role of Vice President. Years on, Shelly Hasney joined the team as Secretary and Treasurer in 2007.
At the beginning of 2013, the executive staff elected for Mid-South Equipment to operate as a Limited Liability Company under the name Mid-South Equipment Sales and Services LLC. After acquiring additional product lines that diversified Mid-South Equipment’s offerings, more sales personnel were hired. This brought the total to seven along with two service technicians. During this period of expansion, a new office was also opened in Lafayette to better serve the needs of our customers on the western side of the state. Additionally, in 2018, a hands-on training center was opened at the Harahan location. This allows Mid-South Equipment to host lunch-and-learns while providing technicians with vital training on their equipment. At the beginning of 2019, Kelly John Sr. semi-retired which brought a change in the executive team.

Today, Mid-South Equipment Sales & Service operates as a unified, statewide manufacturer representative platform serving all of Louisiana. Led by Kelly and Shelly Hasney, Mid-South continues a legacy built on decades of trusted relationships, regional expertise, and a people-first approach, now serving both North and South Louisiana.
As Mid-South has grown, JD Mechanical Equipment and Schully Strawn & Associates have aligned with the organization and now operate under the Mid-South Equipment name. This evolution brings together teams with deep local roots, technical knowledge, and long-standing partnerships into a single, coordinated platform.
Mid-South Equipment is supported by Meriton, a national alliance of best-in-class HVAC manufacturer representatives across more than 25 states. Meriton’s support provides access to shared resources and operational expertise, while leadership, customer relationships, and local decision-making remain firmly rooted in Louisiana.
The result is a stronger, more connected Mid-South, one that honors its history while expanding its ability to serve customers and manufacturing partners across the state, with the same focus on service, integrity, and long-term relationships that have defined the company for more than five decades.
